Decreases In API In October

The agricultural prices index (API) for October suggests that the prices of all outputs fell again, for the fifth month, by 1.5%. The fall in the index was mainly due to decreases in the prices of potatoes and fresh fruit. The index is still 0.4% higher than last year.

The API for all inputs also fell in October by 1.5%. It is the fourth consecutive month with a fall and the index is 0.8% lower than this time last year. The fall is mainly due to an 8.9% fall in fertiliser prices.
