The Analogy Of The Body

The analogy of the body goes back a long way. There have corporate and military applications since ancient times. It is the idea of a single unit made up of many parts. Many parts, not identified with anyone of them in particular. It usually has a hierarchical structure of head and members displaying many gifts. The unity of the body made up of many parts brings them together in one spirit. The 'esprit de corps' encompasses morale, culture and spirit. They share a common existence. Its functioning requires a diversity of gifts each making a special contribution. Collectively it is a body, individually it is the members. The higher eschelons require higher gifts. The rest are helpers and assistants. When a body gets sick, it needs a healer, a special person, to raise it to new life.
