Increase In Farmers Incomes In 2011
Total income from farming (TIFF) in 2011 was estimated to be £5,567m, up £1,084m on 2010 according to a second estimate of TIFF from Defra. Allowing for adjustments for inflation TIFF went up by £851m or 18%. It is the best performance by the agricultural industry since the mid-1990s.
TIFF per annual work unit (AWU) of entrepreneurial labour was up by 16% to £30,000 in real terms. TIFF per AWU of entrepreneurial labour has, over time, performed better than TIFF due to a decline in the number of farmers.
