Fall In Unemployment In February

The ONS labour market statistical bulletin for February suggests that in February 2012 there were 2.65m people unemployed giving an unemployment rate of 8.3%. The figures mean a fall of 35,000 on the quarter, the first quarterly fall since May 2011. The employment rate for 16-64 year olds was 70.4%, up 0.1%. The numbers of people in employment in February were 29.17m over 16 years of age, an increase of 53,000. The number of job vacancies during the three months to March 2012 was unchanged at 464,000.
