Winning Back Their Hearts

In a period of recession if you ask people why they are sitting on the fence you may get no response. Unsure of what to do in either/or situations they will look for guidance in trusty leaders and well established doctrines and metaphors. They may start hopping from one foot to the other. Professionals and politicians also vacillate between one model or system and another. What do they do if there is no consensus of opinion? Someone might ask the people and steal a march by getting an agreement before anyone else has a chance to move. You have to try to win back their hearts. Your dialectic should be well grounded and you should be able to make a point without damning your opponent. You are more likely to correct erroneous views and win support that way. It had better be genuine because people tend to have a horror of hypocrisy. It is also good to reflect on your own experience and knowledge and try to develop a greater understanding of it, releasing previously hidden potential and the new demands that rise from it. When growth returns and the transformation has taken place you can take the acclaim.
